Kushinga is a community garden that brings together migrant, refugee and asylum seeker communities alongside local Birmingham residents through the growing of food. We celebrate the diversity of our community, the wide range of foods we grow, and the resilience that this diversity brings. We practice fully organic, regenerative growing methods.
We are currently funded to grow and promote a wide range of crops from around the world, reflecting the nationalities and ethnicities represented at the garden. Through this work, we aim to promote crop diversity and strengthen connections with the wider community.

-
Good organisational skills
-
An interest in working with asylum seekers and refugees
-
Experience of working with groups and managing community workdays
-
Motivation, initiative, and the ability to work independently
You will deliver our weekly Saturday workdays throughout the 2026 growing season.
Key tasks include:
-
Planning and delivering community gardening workdays
-
Ensuring the gardening programme for the growing season is delivered with full involvement from volunteers
-
Supporting members and volunteers to carry out gardening activities
-
Working collaboratively with other gardening coordinators and the wider volunteer team
